The Origin of the Universe

Did you know that literally billions of dollars are being spent each year in an effort to discover some explanation for the origin of the universe other than that contained in Genesis chapter One? But, here in Genesis is another piece of scientific fact from the Scriptures at which men who claim great learning have scoffed. It is heartening to notice that more and more scientists are beginning to suggest that the creation idea may be valid after all. But by far the bulk of these billions of dollars go to the effort to disprove Genesis chapter One. Nevertheless, we read in Genesis 1:1 the simple statement: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." In the 33rd Psalm the inspired poet records: "By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth...for He spoke and it was done...He commanded and it stood fast" (Psalm 33:6, 9). Again in the New Testament in Hebrews 11:3 we read: "By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God...." Yet man goes tragically on his own road, as Peter writes of them in 2 Peter 3:5: "For this they willingly forget, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water...." What do you believe about the origin of all this?
